There is a patties shop in front of Kailash Talkies in Ram Mandir area of Gwalior, named Taj Patties Corner. Operator Taj told that his brother had started Masala Patties in the city 25 years ago. At that time patties were sold for just Rs.5. He passed away a few years back. Now the patties are available in his shop for Rs.20.
18 types of items fall in the boxes
Taj told that the patties available at his shop are slightly bigger than the patties available in the market. More than 18 items are put in its preparation, in which many items are prepared at home. It has garlic chutney and some special spices, which he prepares himself. Told that about 8 to 10 kg onions, more than 2 kg green chillies, more than 1 kg cheese and butter are used in patties daily.
People come from far and wide
According to Taj, people come to his shop not only from Gwalior but also from cities like Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Datia etc. to taste the patties. About 2 kg of green chillies and 5 to 10 kg of onions are used daily. Apart from this, 1 kg paneer and peas are also used. That’s why the taste of patties makes people their fans.
